Irish Breakfast
One of the most pleasant surprises of our trip to Ireland was how much we loved the food! We had heard tale after tale from some of our foodie friends that we would be sorely disappointed in the typical Irish cuisine. Well, I am happy to report that that statement couldn't have been further from the truth! Shug and I adored the Irish food!
The resounding favorite for the both of us was the Irish Breakfast. This breakfast is probably the utter antagonist to what I eat every day for breakfast in the States. My usual bowl of granola with coconut milk was replaced with two bangers (sausages), two slices of Irish rashers or "bacon" (I'll get to this glorious bacon in a sec), two eggs, a broiled tomato slice, a small portion of baked beans, and heavenly black and white pudding.
Don't be surprised that I cleaned my plate at every breakfast! I was told that the proper way to eat this plate was to get a little bite of egg, with the sausage or bacon, then add a little bit of pudding and beans, and then a sliver of the tomato! All of this in one bite!
The rashers were lean and bacon-y tasting without all of the grease that seems to accompany American-style bacon. In other words: glorious. The bangers were delicious, too, with just the right amount of seasoning.
But it was the black and white puddings that had me at "hello." I couldn't be sure they were gluten-free, but I asked what the binding agent was in these lovely puddings and I always got the answer "oats." I took the risk and didn't feel sick after my breakfasts, so I kept on eating the puddings! The black pudding was made of blood, bacon, oats, and spices, while the white pudding was made without the blood and some organ meats thrown in for flavor. I know is sounds unappetizing, but it was sooooo good!
I probably consumed more pork products on this trip than I have in my entire life! That is not an exaggeration! But it has been weird upon my return, I've been craving vegan pancakes and salads like crazy...I wonder why;)?
Have a lovely weekend! xo.

Look what I just treated myself to...!
I found this lovely seller on Etsy, CakeandWine.
This is an original watercolor and pencil painting that I think would look great
in the hallway...
Hooray for awesome art!

This song made me fall in love...fo' realz...
The art of a well-made mix has been the subject of many heated debates, arguments, and John Cusack movies. The song selection, song order, and the mix length could be distilled down to an algorithm for some mixtape masters, while others let their "gut" lead their organic process of mixtape creation.
I am here to attest that the power of the well-made mixtape is why I am getting married. Me: super-pessimist-feminist-ice-queen was reduced to a melty-mess-of-kittens-and-hot-chocolate-with-whipped-cream-on-top after a single listen to such a mixtape.
Shug knew I'd be a hard sell, so he cowboyed up and came out with mixtape guns blazing. I knew I was in deep trouble after listening to this Talkdemonic song for the first time.

Oh, Drew...

I don't know whether to lovelovelove this for being so out there
or hate her for biting some contrived "white man" idea
of how Native Americans dressed...
What do you think?

My First Concert Tweets
Then along came Twitter that lets you tweet all sorts of unimportant drivel in real time...! This means no more deciphering my chicken scratch the next day! I gave tweeting a show a test run with our much anticipated Animal Collective experience in Boulder.
The carnage follows:
- Waiting for Animal Collective to take the stage. Enduring the Dead and Red Hot Chili Peppers.9:23 PM Jun 2nd
- And some J Dilla redeems...9:27 PM
- Ballet dancer projection is pretty dope. And pretty fitting! Lovely!9:35 PM
- Shug has agreed to polyamory. But only with Avey and Panda Bear.9:45 PM
- My Girls are about to KILL.9:53 PM
- People are clapping, singing along, and dancing. Are these concert goers really hipsters?!9:59 PM
- Animal Collective just played the organ song off of Post...take me now, Lord.10:13 PM
- Um, Panda Bear is, like, a really good drummer.10:30 PM
- The sing-along continues. Feels like church camp. Except a lot cooler lyrics to sing along to.10:38 PM
- Finished already?!?10:50 PM
- Encore!10:50 PM
- Strawberry Jam is making a strong appearance. Unsolved Mystery is sounding pretty damn amazing right now.11:04 PM
- Over already:(11:13 PM
- My cilias' swan song is a fair price to pay for over two hours of Animal Collective live.11:36 PM

Guilty Pleasure #975
Especially the horrible neon-yellow abomination that is drenched in butter-flavored motor oil and promises to clog your arteries and fatten your derriere.
I love everything about you!
THAT's why it's a guilty pleasure...
One of my favorite "recipes" is as follows for "Healthy Popcorn":
Ingredients and Supplies:
BIG bowl to harness that popcorn power
Air Popper
Popcorn kernels
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Sea Salt
Options galore:
Black cracked pepper
Burger seasoning
Brown sugar
Marshmallows
Chocolate chips
White chocolate chips
Hershey's Syrup (messy, but soooooo good!)
How-to:
Throw your popcorn kernels in the popper and plug in. Make sure your bowl is big enough for your delicious treat. While the popcorn cascades into the bowl, give it a little squirt here and there with the olive oil. While it's still warm toss in whatever seasoning or sweetener your heart desires. Inhale.

Liars Where Have you Been?
I was lucky enough to see this insanity at the 2006 Pitchfork Music Festival. It was so crazy and it sounded probably crazier than this video!

Fantastic Planet
Have you seen "Fantastic Planet"? It's a crazy animated movie about little humans living on a planet full of super-size blue aliens. The animation is lovely and the soundtrack is even better!
Here's a little J Dilla remix. It's pretty great!
P.S. If you are opposed to seeing animated alien boobs, don't watch...her outfit is revealing! Just cover your eyes, hit play, and listen to the remix!
