Sometimes people say I'm "un-American"
because:
I speak out,
have a contrary opinion,
think things need to change,
voice my distaste with certain legislation....
But, every day,
I am thankful that I live in a country
where, as a woman especially,
I CAN do these things.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July!
right on! you sound very American to me.
ReplyDeleteThat is very American. It means that you actually care about our nation's current state and are informed as a citizen!
ReplyDeleteI am an American Studies major and we are constantly in a debacle with the general public; they consider us to studying "Un-American" aspects of our society as opposed to the elementary education that is spoon fed to us about how wonderful our country is. Instead we try to study our past mistakes in hopes to educate our society to not repeat these mistakes, which happens to be our consistent downfall.
Anyway, thank you for caring and voicing your opinion. We need more of that in our country. I love your blog and follow in my google reader.
Happy Fourth!
Best,
Amy
