Oh boy, do I ever need a vacation!  I only have TWO WEEKS left before my thesis defense and things are not moving along as smoothly as I had hoped...I guess they call that life and to deal with it!  I am more than just a little nervous about this if you haven't noticed from my last 89 posts about being stressed out.  I promise to be more upbeat here in a week or two!

Anyway, I am looking forward to celebrating Sissyteef's birthday this weekend at a local Chinese food restaurant called the Mandarin.  It's apparently world-famous!  Today marks an exciting shift for her as she moves away from one job and towards another adventure!  Hope you have a nice and relaxing weekend!

Just look at that stinker, Tucker.  He may be the smartest dog I've ever met!  He's also the most mischievous...He's always nosing Ruby out of her snuggle spot and opening the bathroom door when you are trying to pee.  He also gets really bent out of shape when Shug shows me any physical affection.  He whines and grumbles even at at hug!  He's a stinker, I told you!

This weekend has me held up working on my thesis defense.  I am literally locking myself in my house until it is completed!  So wish this prisoner some luck AND motivation!

Well Spring Break sure flew by!  I got about 10% completed on my to-do list, too!  I'm not going to beat myself up over it because sometimes you just need to take a breather.  This is my last school break before graduation in a couple of months and I couldn't be more ready to finish up this program!

Spring Break sure was fun since I was able to hang out with Mummateef and Sissyteef!  We went to lunch at my favorite little Vietnamese place, Oh Mai.  If you get a chance you must try it!  Sissyteef wanted to stay for dinner she loved it so much!

This weekend I am hoping to work on my research, take more photos of inventory for WrenRetro, and go to barre class with Bestest Best.  What plans do you have for the weekend?

I have a funny secret: I have never used a curling iron on my hair until a couple of weeks ago!  I was scarred as a little kid when one of the girls in my 3rd grade class came to school with a burnt and blistered ear from curling her hair by herself.  It took me a good 20 years to muster up the courage to use a curling iron by myself!  Above is the not-so-great result of 30 minutes in the grips of fear.  My talents lie in other areas...like how many cupcakes consumed within a 24-hour time period.

This week marks the beginning of my last clinical rotation until graduation...I am so very scared and relieved that this educational journey is winding down.  I really should say winding UP, since I still have to finish my research, write my thesis, defend my thesis...............Let's not talk about this anymore, as the panic attack is setting in as I type!  Needless to say, my next few weeks (and weekends;( ) will be filled with the stuff of science-y insanity.

Ruby is finished with winter.  Come to think of it, so am I.  

She has taken to burrowing under the blankets and taking up residence...well, right in my crotch.  She looked so funny the other day I just had to document it!  She is the sweetest pup that could be, but when you try to move her or change positions once she's found her snuggle spot she grumbles!  So I just let the little princess set up where she likes!

It is starting to feel just the tiniest bit like spring around here.  Some brave little shards of crocuses are starting to poke up through the grimy snow and the days are starting to get longer.  Boy are we ready here in the 'Teef residence!

Let's just talk about my outfit first to get THAT out of the way.  

Shug and I were invited to the annual Salt Lake Magazine Dining Awards on Tuesday evening.  Shug was going to help run the awards and my job was to drink champagne.  I had about seven minutes to get ready after I rushed home from a crazy clinic day.  Let me tell you something about putting a cute outfit together: it takes some thought. 

It is very clear that I did not have much thought to give to my belly-shirt-witchy-woman-poncho-disaster.  It's ok.  Really, it is.  But when bumped up against the likes of Supermodel, Ciel, and Capricieux, I look a little cray.

Sartorial choices aside, we had a fabulous evening!  It was filled with good conversation with some of our best friends.  It was so fun to have this experience with them!  We also have a list of restaurants to try in Salt Lake City this weekend!  Hope you have a good one...I'm getting to be less of a lump/grump now that I can feel spring just around the corner!

Did you have a nice Valentine's Day?  If you're like me, you're going to carry over the lovefest into the weekend!  A part of me kind of despises that we have to have a specific day that we let our loved ones know how important they are to us.  Shouldn't we be doing this on the daily?

Well, aside from smooching on Shug, I'm hoping to clean out my pantry and maybe get to eat a delicious meal with Sissyteef.  I'm not really looking forward to cleaning out the pantry, but I really am excited to hang out with my sister!  I haven't seen her since the holidays!

11, one of my dear friends from college and also the best chocolate chip cookie baker ever, had a little Valentine's baby late last night.  He was born 12 seconds before midnight!  I'm hoping to get to meet him and maybe make some butternut squash enchiladas for the new parents!

Whew, you guys.  These past few weeks have been...well, let's just say I'm in need of some sweet distractions.  Midterms and my research proposal were honestly the least of my worries.  I am really thankful that I get a week of Spring Break to spend with my family, especially Sissyteef!

Over the break I'm going to try my hand at some DIY projects.  These are a couple of projects you may have seen from my Twitter stream!  While my clay beads didn't really turn out as I had expected, my gold- and copper- dipped vases were a success!

I'm looking forward to time to relax, do a little spring cleaning, go to brunch, and barre class, too!

See, exciting stuff, I tell ya;).

In all honesty, though, I have had some "best days" with Shug lately!  We had a really sweeetsies Valentine's Day, complete with champers and a cheezy rom-com (Watch Crazy, Stupid, Love now. RUN.)  We've also just had some lazy Sundays with a home-cooked dinner and enough laughter to make wine squirt out of my nose!  With our crazy schedules, all I really look forward to is time with him and the pups.

Well, I'm not making any promises, but I hope to see you soon around here!

Shhhh.  Can you hear that?  It's the last seconds of my winter break ticking away, slowly but surely.  I feel I got SO much accomplished in these past few weeks, I also still have a laundry list of "to-do's" that just didn't get any attention!  I must say, it was so very nice to catch up with good friends, some of them on similar paths with me in the education world.  I may have had too many sweets, too much wine, and not enough sleep and I am THRILLED that I did!  I am wrapping up my break this weekend by spending some time with Mummateef and maybe having some drinks with Supermodel and BBF.

Link Love and Lovelies...and Some Gratitude

I'll tell you a little secret: I hold myself to some pretty unrealistic standards sometimes.  I also think I'm getting better at not doing this so often, but sometimes, I just want to give everything in my life 110%.  This, of course, is a pretty bad math equation and bad for human sustainability. 

It's been a pretty tough week over here in the Goldteef house, I won't go into boring detail, but I will say that we got a big perspective change to let us know that 110%, all of the time, always, is just plain dumb.  Do you know what's important?  It's taking 10 minutes out of your day to call your grandma.  It's finding the time to watch a silly sitcom with your husband.  It's sending that thank you letter (in the snail mail, YES!) that you've been meaning to send.  It's telling your mom or your dad or your moms and your dads that you love them.  It's doing this OFTEN.

So this weekend, take the teensiest amount of time to show some gratitude for the people you love.  I'm sure they'll love it, too.

Oh my goodness, you guys.  Last night was SO much fun and it's been quite awhile since I've been able to take a little break from the grind of my master's program!  Needless to say, attending the opening party for Salt Lake City's first H&M and Crate and Barrel was something I'd been looking forward to for weeks.  There were endless delicious Kir Royales with cranberries and local brews to drink and a discount for all the invited shoppers!  We even got to skip the long line that wrapped around the building!  It.  Was.  So.  Fun.  I also managed to score some cute clothes for my rotations as well as this poncho.  I was a little on the fence about it, but once I put it on, I was sold!

Hello, remember me?  It's really been forever since I've even had two spare minutes to rub together lately!  I miss Goldteef!  I miss having time to read all the beautiful and inspiring things about friends near and far.  But, honestly, I miss fake shopping.  Fake shopping?  Oh, you know what that is!  It's where you go to sites that are forever outside of your price range (I'm looking at you, EmersonMade!) and you fill up your cart with lovely things you wish you could purchase but never would.  It's also shopping for events that are very unlikely to happen in the near future (I'm not really planning on running down the steps of the Louvre anytime soon, but I DO have the dress for it;).)  Well, since I'm here for a sec, I'd thought I'd post some lovelies for your weekend!

I am pretty proud of ma nailz this week...can you tell;)?  The thing is, doing my nails was probably the only thing I did this week for Goldteef-time.  I absolutely think my graduate studies are me-time, too, but I really needed a little brain-rest, too!  So, enter my nails!  I haven't really ever been a nail painter up until this last year and I discovered I love it!  So for your weekend, I challenge you to some you-time...and that may even be painting your nails, too!

Crazier weeks have happened, but I daresay this has been a pretty insan-o week for me!  I had my first midterm for my graduate program and.......well, let's just say I'm glad I won't get my grade back until the end of the month!

I am SO excited, though, because I get to hang out with Mumma and Sissyteef soon!  We're planning on brunching and girltime, both of which I am sorely in need of!  It can feel really isolating when you are just plowing ahead with little time for friends or family, so needless to say I am over the moon that I get to spend an entire day with these ladies!

Whoa!  I have been completely crazy-busy this week with school...and only school.  This is a big change for me since, in the past, I've been able to balance my education with working and even a little bit of playing.  I am discovering that this program is pretty much a full-time job, with copious amounts of overtime.  I have been more humbled (and a little freaked out!) by the intelligent people I am constantly surrounded by!  From my classmates to my instructors, I have to keep pinching myself!  I really feel so lucky and so challenged with my new direction.  And did I mention I'm a little freaked out, too;)?
