Friday Link Love and Lovelies

Just look at that stinker, Tucker.  He may be the smartest dog I've ever met!  He's also the most mischievous...He's always nosing Ruby out of her snuggle spot and opening the bathroom door when you are trying to pee.  He also gets really bent out of shape when Shug shows me any physical affection.  He whines and grumbles even at at hug!  He's a stinker, I told you!

This weekend has me held up working on my thesis defense.  I am literally locking myself in my house until it is completed!  So wish this prisoner some luck AND motivation!

Here's some lovelies for your weekend, I hope you aren't locked in like me!

~ The cutest 500 square foot apartment...for a family of 4!

~ Say it isn't so...Dewy-4-Lyfe.

~ French pharmacy must-haves.

~ Would you be brave enough to wear this?!

~ I'm having REAL trouble with Rory Gilmore marrying Pete Campbell.

~ I'd use these baskets year-round!

~ Speaking of Easter, these natural dye eggs are amazing!

Friday Link Love and Lovelies

Ruby is finished with winter.  Come to think of it, so am I.

She has taken to burrowing under the blankets and taking up residence...well, right in my crotch.  She looked so funny the other day I just had to document it!  She is the sweetest pup that could be, but when you try to move her or change positions once she's found her snuggle spot she grumbles!  So I just let the little princess set up where she likes!

It is starting to feel just the tiniest bit like spring around here.  Some brave little shards of crocuses are starting to poke up through the grimy snow and the days are starting to get longer.  Boy are we ready here in the 'Teef residence!

Are you doing anything fun this weekend?  Or are you just thinking of spring, like us?

~ This house is perfection.

~ This cute little hotel evokes the same look, in a pared down way!

~ Loved this post and I an SUCH a planner.

~ Need to master the art of this.

~ I may be brave enough to try to make these this weekend!

~ Or try this hair style!

Oh and one more thing...

SO Thankful...and full!

Did you have a nice holiday?  I really did.  It was the first time I was able to prepare our Thanksgiving meal for my family, so it was really special for me!  Everything turned out really great...except the turkey, of course!  But I think turkey is just kind of underwhelming, in and of itself!

Instead of links today, I'm going list some things that I am thankful for, plus you all probably know the good Black Friday deals without my help!

~ My Shug

~ My supportive and amazing family

~ My crazy and goofy dogs

~ My intelligent and endlessly inspiring friends

~ My education...and continuing education

~ My work ethic I learned from my parents

~ My house

~ My job that has seen me through 3 degrees and counting!

~ Ryan Gosling;)

~ My car that has gotten me to and from wherever for over a decade

~ My health

~ Netflix

~ Gluten-free cupcakes

~ And pretty much a million other things!

xo.

P.S.!!!! Bestest Best is celebrating a birthday today!  Happiest b-day to her!

Home Stretch

Whew!  My last week of work couldn't have been busier!  In the craziness of finishing up with my clients at work, Shug and I decided we wanted to get our kitchen remodel finished before school started...YEAH.

Maybe not the best decision in the world, but our entire kitchen is sitting in a pile in our backyard now, so we don't have a choice but to continue!  The remodel noise has done a number on the poor pups, too!  Ruby went to stay in the fresh mountain air with Grandma and Grandpa 'Teef while Tucker gets a daily trip to doggy daycare.  I bet Rubes won't want to come back to stinky ol' SLC after a weekend running around in the hills!

Wish us luck...I have my fingers crossed that we will be finished with the big stuff by Monday...cause that's back to school time!  Eeek!

Friday Link Love and Lovelies

I thought I'd share a little "family portrait" that our good friend, BBF, took a couple of weeks ago.
Shug and I are so very proud of our little family!
We love our puppies!

I'm excited to have a BBQ this weekend with my Mom and Dad!  My sister and her husband are coming, too!  I'm thinking we'll have pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw.  Mmm!

I feel like my weekend already got off to an amazing start, because yesterday I was lucky enough to get some dinner and have some great conversation with two amazing women!  There is something to be said for having just "girl time," you know?

Here's some loveliness for your weekend!

* I want a vacation here!

* LOVE these modern wedding invitations!

* Love this garland idea for your hair.

* Such a sweet summery look.

* Amazed at her consistent elegance!

* DYING over this find!

Have a great weekend!

Meet Tucker!

Shug and I have been back and forth about getting another dog for close to a year now.  Rubes has been a lonesome little pup and we have been noticing she just curls up on the couch and doesn't move until we get home some days.  We also didn't want to bring another pup in on the scene until Ruby was completely house trained.  We didn't want bad habits to be shared!  We also thought that another dog may be a lot more work, but every single one of our friends with more than one dog said it was pretty easy adding another member to the household!
Thursday night, Shug and I were on the Utah Humane Society's site and I saw a little YouTube clip of this hyena/deer/chihuahua mix and FELL HARD for the little guy.  We talked it over and decided just to give him a visit the next day.  In the video, he seemed suuuuper timid and we were worried he would be aggressive and scared since all the info the shelter had was that he was a stray.

Friday afternoon we stopped in to the chaos of the adoption center.  Dogs yelping and wailing and about thousand kittens in the front lobby all waiting for homes.  It was a pretty sad sight.  Here's a tip: do not, DO NOT go to the pound thinking you'll "just look around."  You will want to take home every, single, sad little face that looks at you through their kennel door.  I probably would have single-handedly taken home ALL of the cats there on Friday and I despise cats.  Luckily, Shug was there to talk some sense into me!

We walked up to Tucker's kennel and saw this dirty, little, sable ball wrapped about as tightly as it could in the corner of his cage.  We talked sweetly to him and the ball slowly unrolled into the skinniest little dog.  He was hacking from what I presumed to be kennel cough and had petrified boogers in his eyes and blocking his little nose.  He had scabs on his front legs and tail where something had taken a chunk out of his hide and patches of fur were missing where the shelter had to cut out burrs and knots.  I about lost it right then and there.

He carefully walked to the door of the kennel and gave Shug and I a friendly lick.  We opened the door and Tucker started wagging his tail, so we took that as a green light to give him a scratch or two.  He liked us!  We decided to take him for a walk to get to know each other a little better.  As soon as we sat down outside he jumped in Shug's lap and curled up.  It was pretty much a done deal at this point!  Tucker was probably the sweetest little thing we had ever met!
We brought Ruby back to the shelter to meet him.  She was pretty disenchanted with the whole affair, but wasn't aggressive towards Tucker, nor he to her.  We decided to give him a trial week at our house with Ruby to see if she warmed up to him at all.  Being the only pup in the house has definitely made Ruby a little bit of an ice queen when it comes to other dogs, but she is slowly warming up to Tucker!

His cough and wounds are already getting better and a couple of baths took care of his boogers!  He seems so happy and relaxed with us, so I'm thinking he better stick around!  Do any of you have two dogs?  Do they get along?  I'd love to know!

Ruby Wednesday

My pup has a special talent not all dogs have: she can smile!

She was SO worn out yesterday afternoon
after running around like a crazy puppy playing catch with Shug,
I had to take a few shots!
She still wanted to play so badly,
but kept flopping on the grass to cool her little belly down after every other throw.

She was a little miffed at us when we finally went inside for dinner,
but she slept like a rock!

Ruby Thursday

This puppy had me wrapped around her little paw.  She's pretty well-behaved, is 99% house trained, and she can smile!  She likes to snuggle to the point of smooshing you off the couch, but she's not a huge fan of being petted.  You better be scratchin' if you want her to stay still!

Ruby has a goofy personality and I'm pretty sure she's the best dog in the universe.  (Totally biased statement, I know!)  The thing is, I know she gets kind of lonesome during the week when Shug and I are away at work.  We've been talking about finding her a brother or sister, but we're also scared that we won't love the new pup as much as we love Rubes!  Dilemma.

Do any of you have two pets?  How do they (and you!) get along?
I'd love to hear what you think!

Happy Birthday!

Today's my Dad's birthday!

He's half the reason I'm a strong and healthy adult,
because he taught me:

~how to stand up for myself
~how to give and take constructive criticism
~how to listen
~how to ski
~how humor is an amazing salve for just about anything
~how not to pick on my little sister
~how to stay calm even if you're fire-spitting mad
~how to love a Rubydog even when she chewed a hole through our wall

Happiest Birthday, Dad!

Hopefully we'll get to go have some smoky BBQ and cold beers to celebrate!
Oh, and hang out with Punky Rubester!  She says "happy birthday!" too!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!
xo.

Ruby, um, Wednesday

Looking at this makes want to have a good stretch and a nap, but I don't think that's going to happen this week!  Are you traveling for Thanksgiving?  If so, be safe!  We had a certified blizzard hit Utah yesterday and the roads are dicey!
Shug also took a picture of Ruby with the fisheye lens...We were rolling at this picture!

Doggie Dress Up

Remember when I told you I loved this time of year because I got to see puppies dressed up as pumpkins?  Well, I think I have a new favorite puppy costume: Anna Wintour!

This cute little pug, Mamma Biscuit, was a puppy mill rescue, and her dads have been lavishing her with extra love and couture design!  Mamma stole the show and won best costume!  She looks pretty darn amazing!

Now on to puppies dressed up as turkeys and Santas....I really can't wait!

Guilty Pleasure #534: Dogs and Babies Dressed up as Pumpkins

I am not a huge fan of Halloween
BUT,
I look forward to fall and the possibility
that I'll get to see dogs and babies
dressed up like

PUMPKINS!

It's so ridiculous I can't even stand it...
Don't judge me, please.

Beautiful Day

Yesterday was a gorgeous day.

The temperature was perfect.

There wasn't a cloud in the sky.

And I had five minutes to just breathe and enjoy it!

Ruby spent the better part of the evening playing fetch with Shug.

She was sooooo tired, but she wouldn't drop the ball!

Let's try to take a little time today to enjoy the summer,

it'll be gone before we know it!

What Weekend?

Whoa. This weekend was so fun and I'm exhausted! We had a Friendsgiving Feast along with a Friendsgiving miracle! I'm sure this week is going to be just as crazy for you as it is for me! In my love of making checklists, lets indulge ourselves, shall we?
  • Make checklist. Check.
  • Write asinine paper for online class of death.
  • Write letter to department concerning asinine peeps teaching asinine classes.
  • Wait to mail letter until grades are posted.
  • Write paper for substance abuse class.
  • Finish project for group counseling class.
  • Take the Rubester to the vet to check her stitches.
  • Get some puppy Valium so Rubes will allow for said stitches to heal.
  • Work!
  • Let Shug use the computer...At least a little.
  • Work out...the hallowed treadmill is here!
  • Get thyself to a Thanksgiving Feast.
  • Before feasting, make mashers.
  • Have a girl's day with Shug's sisters.
  • DO NOT SHOP.
What fun things do you have on your checklist this week? I'm saving the decorating for the holidays until next week...That is a checklist in and of itself!

And now the real celebration begins...!

~Because I have a husband that thinks I look cute in the mornings.
~Because I have a puppy who loves me (almost as) unconditionally as my marido.
~Because I start a new job tomorrow that, gasp, is actually in my field of study!
~Because I start school today.
~Because the beautiful weather followed us wherever we went on our road trip.
~Because we have the most amazing, loving, kind friends and family that made our celebration a success!
~Because I found gluten-free chocolate-covered donuts and I had to eat two for breakfast since we haven't any groceries.

P.S. Look how amazing this portrait is of Ruby!! My friend Kenzie painted it herself! She and her man even made the decoupage frame! It was one of the most thoughtful and beautiful gifts we've ever received! PLUS she just got married on Saturday! Congrats!
